Prudential market experts see a ‘muddle-through’ economic outlook for the remainder of 2012

Prudential's 2012 Midyear Global Markets & Economic Outlook was held June 26 in New York City. Prudential experts said they expect the economy and global markets to remain in a period of slow growth—a "muddle through scenario"—for the rest of 2012. "The U.S. (economy) is growing slowly, but at least we’re growing," said Ed Keon, managing director and a portfolio manager for Quantitative Management Associates' asset allocation team. "We're not gloomy. We're optimists for the long run. But it takes a while to get to the long run and the path can be rocky." Other panelists included John Praveen, chief investment strategist for Prudential International Investments Advisers; Quincy Krosby, chief market strategist for Prudential Annuities; Michael Lillard, chief investment officer for Prudential Fixed Income; and Kevin Smith, a managing director and head of U.S. business for Prudential Real Estate Investors.
