The outlook for the commercial real estate market is 'more of the same' slow growth
When it comes to the outlook for the commercial real estate market over the next year, Collete English-Dixon sees "more of the same.""We believe the same weak growth we saw in the first half of 2012 will remain for the rest of 2012 and 2013," says English-Dixon, principal, transactions and co-leader of national investment dispositions for Prudential Real Estate Investors.
"The reality is that jobs fuel real estate growth, and we have gained back less than half of the estimated 8.8 million jobs lost due to the recession," she adds.
The U.S. fiscal cliff and the global economic environment are other near-term challenges that could decelerate the real estate recovery in 2013, according to English-Dixon.
