Prudential donates $3 million for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts

John Strangfeld
As tens of millions of people try to put their lives back together in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Prudential is lending a hand.

On Nov. 5, the company announced that it is donating $3 million to non-profit organizations assisting in the immediate relief and recovery efforts for victims of Sandy, including the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, The Salvation Army and the American Red Cross.

Prudential will also match employees’ personal contributions to non-profit organizations delivering relief efforts and services in the communities affected by the hurricane.

"Our hearts go out to the individuals, families and our own employees affected by this terrible storm," said Prudential Chairman and CEO John Strangfeld. "We’re grateful for the dedication and sacrifices of first responders who put themselves at risk to save lives, particularly in the hardest-hit communities across New Jersey and New York. We also applaud the efforts of all organizations providing relief efforts, and we will continue to assess ways in which we can help meet the needs of communities across the tri-state region over the long term."
