First baseline of LGBT community's financial confidence is 'enlightening'
“The Confidence Index within ‘The LGBT Financial Experience’ is the first of its kind,” says Prudential Chief Diversity Officer, Michele Meyer-Shipp. “What we really wanted to walk away with was a baseline understanding of the LGBT community’s confidence today and their confidence in the future.”Prudential released “The LGBT Financial Experience” at a media event in New York City on Nov. 14, as part of its series of signature research focused on learning more about the financial practices and literacy of multicultural markets. As part of the launch, Prudential also unveiled the new LGBT Financial Confidence Index.
“We found the community is mostly confident about their household finances, followed by their local economy,” Meyer-Shipp adds. “They are less confident about current LGBT equality and the state of the national economy. Notably, the community is least confident about the financial industry’s attention to LGBT Americans.”
