Keon’s optimistic tone for 2013 was shared by other Prudential experts who spoke Jan. 8 in New York City at the 2013 Global Economic and Retirement Market Outlook media briefing, organized by Prudential's Global Communications Department. Other panelists included John Praveen, chief investment strategist for Prudential International Investments Advisers; Quincy Krosby, chief market strategist for Prudential Annuities; Michael Lillard, chief investment officer for Prudential Fixed Income; and George Castineiras, senior vice president of Total Retirement Solutions at Prudential Retirement.
The panelists covered a variety of topics including the European debt crisis, the economic impact of political gridlock in Washington, D.C., over the debt ceiling, retirement trends, emerging markets, and the outlook for the fixed income and equity markets in the U.S. and abroad.
"We feel the economy is going to get some real traction this year," Keon added. "Although plenty can go wrong, we feel the worst is behind us and the healing process is well under way."
