Prudential is No. 2 on FORTUNE® magazine's 2013 World's Most Admired Companies list in the Life, Health category

FORTUNE® magazine announced its 2013 World's Most Admired Companies® list on Feb. 28, and Prudential earned the No. 2 spot in the Insurance: Life, Health category.

"We're pleased to be recognized once again for this important distinction and to be among the leading Most Admired Companies in our industry," says Chief Communications Officer Bob DeFillippo.

FORTUNE determined its rankings by evaluating companies on nine key attributes of reputation—innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment, quality of products/services and global competitiveness.

Prudential earned its highest marks—top two among its peers—for innovation, people management, social responsibility and global competitiveness.

For this year's list, the magazine surveyed 687 companies from 30 countries. Executives, directors and analysts rated companies in their own industries on the nine criteria. You can find the full 2013 list in FORTUNE's March 18 issue or view it online at fortune.com.
