Kent Sluyter is chief executive officer of Prudential Individual Life Insurance and Prudential Advisors. Prudential’s Individual Life Insurance business focuses on offering competitive solutions to meet the needs of consumers through the manufacturing and distribution of a diverse portfolio of life insurance products targeted primarily to the U.S. mass middle, mass affluent and affluent markets. Prudential Advisors is Prudential’s nationwide captive sales organization, consisting of more than 3,000 financial professionals.
As CEO, Sluyter is responsible for ensuring that Prudential's legacy of commitment to customers is met, maintaining strong business fundamentals, and driving strategic initiatives to support new growth opportunities for the life insurance business.
Sluyter joined Prudential in 1981 and during the course of his career has held leadership positions across many of Individual Life’s core functions, including Actuarial, Underwriting, Operations, Technology, Risk Management and Marketing. Before being named CEO, Sluyter served as chief actuary for the business.
Sluyter holds a bachelor’s degree from Lafayette College and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Chartered Life Underwriter. He serves as chairman of the Life Insurance Committee for the American Council of Life Insurers and is a member of the board of trustees for Montclair State University.
Sluyter will become president of Prudential Annuities in the fourth quarter of 2017.
