Brooke Herbst didn’t know how she’d do it. Somehow, though, she had to figure out a way to help her coworker and friend Jennifer Wood.

It all started during a Microsoft Teams call between colleagues in Prudential’s Individual Life Marketing group last year — on a BAU team that nicknamed itself the “Bad A** Unicorns.” Wood shared some devastating news about her health: Her kidneys were failing.

“I thought I was going to die. I was so terrified I wasn’t going to be able to see my son grow up,” Wood says.

Herbst’s response was reassuring: “I’ll be your unicorn. Everything will be OK.”

In the weeks and months that followed, Herbst would personally deliver on that promise in ways she never imagined.

Watch the video to learn more about this incredible story of friendship, sacrifice and love, and how two coworkers formed a bond that will last a lifetime. The two are sharing their story now, as April is National Donate Life Month.
