NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 10, 2020 — Bryan Pickel has been named head of External Affairs at Prudential Financial, Inc. (NYSE: PRU) and will now oversee its government affairs activities at the federal, state and international levels.
Pickel has a breadth of experience in government relations, having served in leadership positions focused largely on public policy throughout his 27-year career at Prudential. Most recently, as vice president of international government affairs, he led all company dealings pertaining to global regulatory standards, trade and market access policy as well as priority policy and regulatory issues impacting Prudential’s international operations. Pickel will report to Prudential’s executive vice president and general counsel Ann Kappler, whom he also succeeds in this role.

Pickel joined Prudential in 1993 as a business analyst and later held other roles as a tax and retirement lobbyist in the company’s Washington, D.C. office.
“I have had the great fortune of working with a dedicated team to advocate and influence international policy for the past 12 years. I’m extremely pleased to have the opportunity now to continue this work on a greater scale and capacity,” Pickel said.
Pickel earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in politics from Fairfield University. He is currently Prudential’s voting member on the American Council of Life Insurers’ International Markets and Trade Committee and is past chair of the organization’s Global Regulatory Strategy Group. He also serves as associate to the Geneva Association Board of Directors and as the lead of its Public Policy and Regulatory Working Group. In addition, Bryan is the company’s lead representative to the Insurance Regulatory Committee of the Institute for International Finance.
